CPBIS Leads Sessions on Sustainability

CPBIS Session – Sustainability Through Value Grids

Presenter:                Jacquelyn-Danielle McNutt

This presentation would begin with an overview of the state of the industry and the need for new thinking to improve industry competitiveness.  Other industries are realizing that the value chain is non-linear, and is more of a value grid or matrix.  This concept will be described and illustrative examples of how others are using this concept to pursue sustainability.  Implications and take-aways for the pulp and paper industry will also be discussed.

CPBIS Session – Sustainability and Energy Policy

Speakers:                 Jacquelyn-Danielle McNutt, CPBIS
                                 Marilyn Brown, GA Tech

Moderator:                TBD

This session would lead with McNutt’s intro: Sustainability – Do We Have It Right Yet?  This presentation asks whether we have taken a comprehensive global view of the issues, and considered all angles of effective future outcomes with regard to sustainability.   With an appropriate lead-in to energy policy given by McNutt in closing, Dr. Brown would then follow to give an overview of her work.  She will provide an update on the potential energy and climate policies relevant to the pulp and paper industry that are actively being pursued at the state and federal level.  She will also discuss potential directional changes in biomass energy generation and paper production that such policies might precipitate.
