Management Development for Enhanced Performance
Continuing Education Course March 24 - 28, 2003

 

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, November 27, 2002--- The Paper Industry Management Association (PIMA) and the Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies (CPBIS) are cosponsoring a Continuing Education course, Management Development for Enhanced Performance, March 24 - 28, 2003, at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology, in Atlanta, Georgia.

This course will provide a meaningful growth opportunity to managers and future leaders of pulp and paper mills and supplier facilities by supplying them with the cutting-edge knowledge, skills, techniques, and approaches needed to successfully manage their financial, human, and physical resources and enhance the overall performance of their operations. Participants will develop a knowledge and skill base on issues such as financial analysis techniques, effective management of high- performance teams, the art of leadership, management of improvement processes, and bargaining and negotiating techniques.

The course will be taught by faculty of the Georgia Institute of Technology (GT) and experienced practitioners from the pulp and paper and support services industries. A variety of teaching methods, including lectures, class discussions, case studies, and individual/group interactive exercises, will be used. Keynote speakers will share their experiences in areas such as technology transfer; organizational learning; operations, financial, and supply-chain management; and business tactics/strategy development. After the program, participants will be offered explicit follow-up opportunities for further reinforcement, sharing, and ongoing development through the use of distance learning technologies.

This four-and-a-half-day course is offered at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA. Base price of the course is $2,500 (excluding lodging and boarding) with CPBIS or PIMA members eligible for a 15% discount off the base price.
