General Background
|
Colleen is currently Associate Director, Industry Liaison for the Center for Paper Business and Industry Studies (CPBIS) located at IPST on the Georgia Tech campus. Colleen obtained her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and earned her Ph.D. in Pulp and Paper Science from IPST. During her education, she interned with MoDo Paper in Sweden, and with Union Camp's Franklin, VA mill. Her projects were in process development and environmental compliance, which required completion of plant trials and evaluation of new equipment.
Since completing her Ph.D., Colleen has worked for over ten years in the pulp, paper and allied industries in the U.S. and abroad. While working for ABB in Ohio and Switzerland, she focused on new sensor development for paper machines, evaluating state-of-the-art optic technologies and conducting customer surveys in nine countries. Colleen returned to the U.S. and worked on insect-resistant packaging while at Tenneco Packaging. She then took a lead position in sales and marketing with a start-up company which produced specialized on-line sensing equipment for ultra-pure water systems. Here she established a national customer base and championed new product development. Colleen was most recently with MeadWestvaco, where she participated on new product teams for lignin- and fatty acid-based chemicals as well as coated board. She also led projects for the corporate Radical Innovation Team. |
